PGX

Why PGX Testing

Medications available today for treating diseases are powerful agents that should work as intended in most patients. However, in some people, a particular drug at the standard dose might not work well enough or may even trigger a serious adverse reaction. Genetic causes often play an important role in a patient’s predisposition to experiencing adverse drug reactions or therapeutic failure. A simple, non-invasive, cheek swab, used for Pharmacogenetic (PGx) testing, can help optimize medication choice and dosage and help minimize or avoid the typical “trial and error” approach.
